About this course

This course has been developed in line with the “Statutory guidance, Allergy safety in schools”

Under Benedict’s Law, mandatory statutory allergy guidance is enforced for all schools in England. Schools are legally required to implement a standalone whole-school allergy policy, provide allergy and anaphylaxis training for all staff, stock spare emergency adrenaline auto-injectors (AAIs), and maintain Individual Healthcare Plans (IHPs) for affected pupils

This short face to face course will ensure appropriate levels of training for all staff. It also provides an ideal opportunity for practical exercises with all adrenalin trainer devices, talk though scenarios and ask questions in real time.

In the UK, schools have a duty of care under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 to protect the health, safety, and welfare of pupils, staff, and visitors. In addition, the Children and Families Act 2014 places a clear responsibility on schools to make arrangements to support pupils with medical conditions. Department for Education guidance also expects schools to have robust policies and procedures in place to manage conditions such as allergies and anaphylaxis safely.
