Occupations that may use this course

This course is suitable for everyone. If you already have any first aid knowledge this course also serves as a an annual refresher course. If you have an FAW qualification you will need to take our FAW annual refresher. It is best practice although not mandatory for all to attend an annul refresher. For further guidance on your risk assessment and which course is appropriate please get in touch. 

Syllabus

The class is engaging, interactive and fun. It provides opportunity to practice with the manikins and discuss different scenarios and how to respond. All our courses include safe AED use. The session includes:

• When to call for help
• Differences between adults, infants and children when considering first aid provision
• Dealing with an unconscious infant, child or adult (Recovery Position)
• Dealing with an unconscious infant, child or adult that is not breathing (CPR)
• Differences between a heart attack and a cardiac arrest
• Panic Attacks and Trauma
• Safe AED use
• Bleeding
• Choking; recognition and action
• Allergic rations and anaphylaxis
• Seizure
• Stroke
• Head injury’s

During the classroom course students may complete a short written test, as well as a class practical assessment. Our online course (link above) covers a much broader subject area, however we do recommend a classroom course with manikins, AED trainer, auto injector practice and an instructor who can answer your questions, at least every three years. The online course covers the topics below and servers as a great supplement to your practical training.
